Age Of Espion’s Debut ‘Facades’ EP Is Nothing Short Of Magical

Just over a year ago, we featured Age Of Espion on our Focus Five segment as the budding producer made his debut on Deadbeats and, having only two releases under his name at the time, showed tons of promise with a scintillating sound riddled with emotion. Creating further hype with an electric remix for IMANU & Hezen’s ‘Lonely Mess’ alongside latesleeper, Age Of Espion has continued to build momentum leading up to his debut EP titled Facades, released via Deadbeats last week. Put simply, few debut projects have impressed me as much as Facades has over the last few years.

‘Oh No’ kicks off the collection with an exhilarating future bass cut that blends influences of Flume and IMANU but still stands out as incredible unique. ‘Disappear’ with YAANO follows, as the pair of producers flex a mechanical precision and crisp sound design over technical drum and bass rhythms. ‘Talavara’ comes next, and stands out as a personal favourite from the ensemble. The track builds gradually over an ethereal soundscape, before an insanely groovy bassline and playful percussion take center stage. The second half switch-up is equally as enthralling, making ‘Talavara’ a personal (late) contender for track of the year. Finally, ‘Intergalactic’ closes out the Facades EP in similar fashion to its opening, with influences from future bass, wave and trap all oozing into the mesmerizing piece.

If Facades is any indication, Age Of Espion is sure to become a household name in no time. Don’t miss the project below.
