by Last week TroyBoi announced his upcoming EP Say Less with the caption “When the OGs link….” The project is set to drop April 14th and it looks like he’ll be connecting with some of electronic trap music’s originators. While fans are eagerly anticipating who will make the cut, TroyBoi gives us the first sample of what’s to come with ‘Yalla,’ a massive collaboration alongside trap legend UZ.
‘Yalla’ hits as expected from two of the best in the game. The opening possesses an electric energy that feels the anticipation before an epic battle. The drops hit with TroyBoi’s signature bounce with a wonky lead, grande strings, and hypnotic vocal bends. Add in the booming bass, gritty textures, and precise percussion, and this is just what fans needed. ‘Yallah’ sets a high bar for what to expect from TroyBoi’s upcoming project and the caliber of collaborators to be featured. While no others have been officially announced, Mr. Carmack and Stooki Sound will be joining TroyBoi on tour next month so it seems fair to assume that there may be tracks with each on the way. We’ll just have to wait and see.
