First off, thank you so much for taking the time to join us for this interview. Congratulations on such a wonderful EP. What was the main vision you wanted to portray within this body of work?
Of course, thank you so much for having me! And thank you so much for calling my EP wonderful. Day made lol. I knew it was becoming time to do a full body of work and I really wanted to show the progression of my art in a multitude of ways. I have such a deep love for trap, and it’s why I fell in love with electronic music so long ago. So I really just wanted to create some fun trap bangers that are really love letters to why I got started and what I love so much about the genre. I’ve also always poured myself into the melodic side of my writing, so being able to express myself and what I’ve gone through just means a lot to me. The entire EP is really just a part of me.

What’s the meaning behind the title, HEAVENS DOOR?
Well I call everyone angel (obviously lol) which just started so organically by being like “thank you angel” or “you’re an angel,” just really using it as a term of endearment for people being so kind and supportive, and it grew into this. I adore it so much and I think it’s the sweetest thing ever. So, I knew with this EP I wanted to title it something in the ethereal realm just as an ode to all the people who support me and also an ode to the growth I’ve had. So, to me HEAVENS DOOR is like walking through the door towards who you are meant to be and what you want to do.
I wrote a literal 20-page piece on my vision for this EP
Were there any big challenges you had to overcome throughout the writing process?
Honestly, there were a lot of challenges with many aspects of this EP, whether that be the writing, or the roll out, or the branding, or whatever. I wrote a literal 20-page piece on my vision for this EP lol. But, I do really think everything happens for a reason and it really taught me how to trust the process and how to overcome any obstacle ahead of me. Because the reality of this industry is that there are going to constantly be obstacles to overcome!
From two sold-out headline performances to your first debut headline tour, it’s truly exciting to see you’re continuing to rise to the top! How did your relationship with Brownies & Lemonade come to be?
That’s so kind thank you so so so much! My first time ever meeting the Brownies Crew was at a festival called Northern Nights in Northern California. It’s this festival in the woods where there are no hotels or close towns, so the people around you really do become your community. I was playing there and they were there doing a stage takeover. We met there, and that’s really the origin story! A bit later down the road, they booked me for a Block Party in SF and a Snowglobe party in Tahoe and we have only grown our relationship from there! They believed in me from very early on and I’m very thankful for that. They really are like family to me.
What inspirations came your way to boost your confidence when creating each track? Is there a specific one you hold dear to your heart?
I really don’t worry too much about confidence when it comes to creating a track. I just like to sit down and make music for fun, to get lost, and to express a feeling. To me music is just really, really special, it has always been the most important thing to me. So, for me, it’s really just about losing myself in that feeling. ‘Euphoria’ with Juuku is the song that really changed my life, so I hold that one very dear. My track ‘Always’ with Pauline Herr is also really special to me. That track is how we became best friends, so that means more to me than anything. Honestly, every track of mine has a piece of my heart for their own reason – they are all part of the journey and all have a story.
Be authentic to yourself, and never ever forget your passions and love for music because that matters so much more than all the noise that will try to disturb you on the way.
Knowing where you’re at right now, what knowledge would you bestow upon your younger self trying to figure out where to go in life?
Be authentic to yourself, and never ever forget your passions and love for music because that matters so much more than all the noise that will try to disturb you on the way. Be present, abundant, and soak it all up.
Describe HEAVENS DOOR in 3 words
Ethereal, Cinematic, Electric.
What was your favorite track to create on the EP?
All of them 🙂
I also don’t want to get too carried away in the future where I don’t appreciate the accomplishments I’m achieving now.
Where would you like to see your project in 5 years?
I could write you another 20-page paper on that alone. But, to put it most simply, I have so many dreams, and so many goals, and I just wanna do my best to get there and accomplish everything I’ve ever dreamed. Trust me when I say I dream big haha. But, I also don’t want to get too carried away in the future where I don’t appreciate the accomplishments I’m achieving now. Because little girl Rossy, or even 2 or 5 or 10 years ago Rossy would not believe what we have already done.
Is there anything else you’d like to say to your listeners out there?
Thank you for taking the time to support me and for all your incredibly kind words. You make all the hard times worth it, and make me and my art feel worth it, and I just love you to pieces. I hope you love this EP as much as I do.
