As I reflect on this milestone anniversary the numbers do something to put the past decade into perspective. But if I’m being honest… it’s never been about the numbers.
Numbers are a marker of the effort and passion poured into FUXWITHIT but they only begin to tell a part of the story. I’m sure there are platforms that have been around for less time with far bigger numbers, but that’s not what matters. We’ve always been about quality over quantity. And the quality is undebatable. From our features to our mix series, label releases, premieres, and song reviews, if it has our stamp on it, you know it’s legit. Ten years deep it feels damn good to still be able to say that.
A decade in the music business is a long fucking time. Over the years we’ve seen genres rise and fall (and rise again). We’ve seen artists explode and fade to obscurity, legends keep pressing on cementing their status, and bedroom producers rise from unknowns to touring artists helping shape the scene. Through all the ups and downs, we’ve been doing our thing: sharing our favorite music, pushing the artists we love, introducing you to new sounds, and trying to create a positive impact.
I’ve been the driving force behind FUXWITHIT since its inception and it’s been a wild, exhausting, fun, and extremely fulfilling ride. We started from absolute zero, with no experience, no connections, and no clue what we were doing (some days we’re still figuring out). To see how much we’ve been able to grow and expand has been beautiful. But I certainly have not done it alone.
Throughout the years FUXWITHIT has had an incredible team of creatives ranging from writers, photographers, videographers, producers, editors, graphic designers, and beyond. We’ve had team members drop in for short periods lending their creative talents to a special project, and writers whose tenures span years and hundreds of articles, and everything in between. One of the most rewarding aspects of anchoring this platform has been working with so many incredibly talented and passionate people. You’ve given me energy, new perspectives, countless memories, and truly shaped what FUXWITHIT is.
To all the artists we’ve had the pleasure to work with. We truly appreciate you. From legends to unknown SoundCloud standouts and rising stars, it’s been such a joy to share the exceptional art that you create. Whether we’ve worked together on a release, a mix, an interview, a profile, supported your work in a playlist, or just had a brief connection online or in person – thank you. Your music is the battery behind everything we do.
I also wanted to extend a thank you to all the wonderful industry people we’ve been able to cross paths with. From publicists, to label managers, artist managers, fellow writers, and curators. Those behind the scenes don’t often get enough credit for everything they do to make the industry what it is (the good parts of course).
Thank you all for reading this and still caring ten years in. If it wasn’t for you FUXWITHIT wouldn’t have a reason to exist. As long as you still care, we’ll be here, doing what we do, pushing what we love. Here’s to the next decade.
