The Golden State Warriors dynasty was accelerated thanks to Kevin Durant’s presence.
Back in 2015, the Golden State Warriors won their first championship with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green on the roster. After a Finals loss back in 2016, the team added the likes of Kevin Durant who was already cementing himself as the second if not the best player in the entire NBA. Durant’s decision to go to the Warriors was controversial although it was quite fruitful as the team went on to win two straight championships.
Of course, there was quite a bit of drama on the team and as GM Bob Myers explained, winning the title in 2018 wasn’t all that satisfying. The team knew they should have won that year and it felt as if they were just going to the Finals to pick up their trophy.

“The second time with Kevin [in 2018] it felt like, ‘Well, we just did what we were supposed to do, and great job,’” Myers said. “It wasn’t joy. I’m sure a lot of people felt differently. It wasn’t anybody’s fault. I think there’s just a weight to everything. And so I’m sure [the Bulls] felt that weight of everything, weight of relationships.”
These are some pretty honest words although the sentiment has been echoed in the past. The Durant Warriors are an all-time great team but there is no denying their success was manufactured.
