Following a successful run of releases from UK-based producers James Hurr and Loz Seka, STBAN, the visionary founder of FLAMENCA Records, has returned to his own label with a brand new single. Titled ‘Habibi,’ the track officially dropped on April 10th, marking another significant milestone in the label’s mission to bridge the gap between traditional Spanish folklore and contemporary Electronic Music.
A Fusion of Cultures and Rhythms
‘Habibi’ is a masterclass in percussive Afro-Latin House. The production is characterized by its scorching energy, blending intricate Arabesque vocal textures and instrumentation with heavy, thundering basslines. The track is designed specifically for the dancefloor, utilizing relentless, driving rhythms that demand movement.
Collaborative Brilliance
To bring this vision to life, STBAN enlisted the talents of two prominent figures in the Spanish music scene. Javi Torres, a renowned DJ and percussionist, brings his signature explosive style to the mix. Torres has garnered widespread support from industry titans such as Alok, Jamie Jones, Hugel, and Aaron Sevilla, thanks to his ability to integrate live percussion into high-octane sets.
Joining him is singer and DJ Alba Dreid. Having gained national recognition through the RTVE program ‘La Bien Cantá,’ Dreid is dedicated to elevating Spanish folklore for a global audience. Her contribution to ‘Habibi’ serves as a perfect embodiment of the FLAMENCA Records ethos, proving that the fusion of traditional heritage and modern electronic production remains a potent force in the global scene.
