Raucous: A Deep Dive into the Underground Bass Scene

Raucous: A Deep Dive into the Underground Bass Scene

After admiring his work for some time now, we are stoked to finally have Raucous here for a special guest mix and interview. For years, he has been releasing some of the most compelling and hard-hitting electronic music within the underground. His commitment to his craft is evident, with releases on labels like Partica Artist Group, Interval Audio, and Dumb Collective. His technical prowess is designed to leave audiences stunned, and this long-overdue feature is a testament to his growing influence.

His sound design is characterized by its sheer force—capable of punching craters into the earth—while his rhythmic structures turn any dance floor into a frenzy. We highly recommend diving into his discography; each track is packed with intricate details that reveal themselves with every listen. In our conversation, we explored his journey, his inspirations, and the philosophy behind his alias.

This mix is stacked with all new music from myself. They can expect new originals, remixes, and a couple collabs.

When asked about what listeners can expect from this exclusive mix, Raucous noted that it is a showcase of his latest creative output. The set features a blend of new originals, remixes, and collaborations, including a standout remix of Chase Atlantic with Kotrax and a new original featuring vocals from Lucyimhome.

Reflecting on his origins, Raucous shared that his path into production was born from a desire to make a name for himself after starting as a local DJ. With no formal background in music, he spent a year honing his skills until he found the confidence to pursue his unique sound. He credits his early exposure to hip-hop and R&B radio—specifically Wild 96.3—as a foundational influence that still informs his work today.

I knew I wanted to change my name and eventually landed with Raucous. The word basically means a loud, obnoxious sound and it felt fitting for the music I was trying to make at the time. Now here we are years later, still making loud bass music.

The name “Raucous” was chosen to reflect the loud, aggressive nature of the bass music he creates. Looking ahead, he remains focused on the grind: traveling, performing, and collaborating. He expressed a particular interest in performing at Half Pipe Records in Paris, citing their unique fusion of music and skateboarding culture as a major inspiration.

Outside of the studio, Raucous is an avid fitness enthusiast and a self-proclaimed “certified Royal Caribbean gold medalist” in table tennis. As he continues to push the boundaries of the underground scene, he encourages fans to keep an eye on emerging talents like .NET RUN and Port London, both of whom he considers to be pushing the envelope in their own right.
