In 2025, TATE SEDAR turned the page on one era and stepped confidently into the next. Following the release of his debut EP THIS IS POST-EDM, he realized a long-held creative goal that began during his college years, fusing analog textures with digital production to craft electro house and dancepop rooted in the spirit of golden-era EDM.
As summer arrived, SEDAR shifted gears, diving deeper into progressive territory. With his Dim Mak single “breakDOWN,” a series of forward-thinking remixes, and the launch of his “TATE SEDAR: Immersive ❪ 𓆩✦𓆪 ❫” live experience, he began redefining the scope and direction of his evolving sound.
Exploring the Grey Area Between Progressive and Bass
In June, TATE SEDAR introduced a refreshed visual identity and sharpened sonic direction — not a reinvention, but a refinement. Guided by the mantra 𝖙𝖔 𝖑𝖎𝖛𝖊 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖉𝖆𝖓𝖈𝖊 𝖙𝖗𝖚𝖊, his debut EP reflects five years of carving his lane in electro and progressive house across California. From his breakout appearance at EDC Virtual Rave-A-Thon to supporting R3hab, Wolfgang Gartner, and Borgeous, his momentum has steadily grown.
At the same time, Southern California’s underground rave scene shaped his evolution. Drawing from house, garage, and bass influences, SEDAR refined his catalogue between 2020–2025, ultimately anchoring himself in progressive music while layering in bass house energy and garage-driven drums. With 15 California shows last year, he continues to define a sound that lives in the grey area between melodic progression and bass impact.
Encore to Post-EDM: “FIX YOU (20th ANNIVERSARY REMIX)” – COLDPLAY [9/5/25]
First drafted in a San Francisco bedroom studio in 2019, SEDAR’s take on “Fix You” was later reshaped as his post-EDM concept came into focus in 2023. Blending acoustic elements with a modern electronic structure, the remix extends the vision of his EP and was released exactly 20 years after the original.
Amid a divided cultural climate, its message of empathy and unity felt more relevant than ever.
“breakDOWN” (9/23/25) and Dim Mak Studio 326 (Guest Mix – TATE SEDAR) [9/19/25]
In 2023, TATE began weaving garage textures into his original passion, breakbeat, leading to the creation of “breakDOWN,” released on New Noise, the forward-thinking imprint of Dim Mak. The title nods both to its genre roots and the idea of a mental spiral.
The track unfolds in stages, tension in the first drop, realization in the breakdown, and cathartic release in the final drop. Explore the full visual world around it, including the music video, visualizer, and behind-the-track breakdown, and listen now.
Marking his first clear step into what he calls “the grey between progressive and bass,” TATE’s Dim Mak guest mix delivers a bold statement. Expanding beyond his electro and progressive foundations, the 25-minute set reflects years of influence from Dim Mak, including longstoryshort’s remix of “Warp 1.9”, while embracing his growing pull toward bass house energy.
The mix features his own “breakDOWN” alongside cuts from Dyro, Linney, Knock2, Cheyenne Giles, Wolfgang Gartner and Ookay, as well as collaborators and rising names from his circle, capturing the duality that defines his evolving sound.
“Our Time (TATE SEDAR Remix)” – Afrojack, Martin Garrix, David Guetta & Amél (10/24/25)
For his remix of “Our Time,” TATE transformed the progressive house anthem into a track full of heart and groove. While honoring its nostalgic melody, the rework marks SEDAR’s first step into bass house, blending San Diego’s local house vibes with the energy of European mainstage sounds.
TATE SEDAR: Immersive ❪ 𓆩✦𓆪 ❫
Accompanied by visuals, SEDAR crafted his “Immersive” set, an audiovisual experience born from his debut festival performance at INDULGE Mini-Festival, featuring projection and LED floor-mapped visuals. Filmed by Danny Nguyen (@dannayetee) at the Creative Technology Center in Lincoln Heights, LA, the set follows a familiar visual structure (as seen in his work with @ksu_visuals and @damongraphics), moving from progressive and commercial music into bass house, techno, and trap.
The audio, featuring contributions from colleagues Bad Computer, David Shane, SUNGYOO, Asunder, Veiled Eye, Nash Rly, Luckky, and Elmyx, can be heard BELOW.
