AYCH – Guest Mix + Interview

Nashville-based producer AYCH (pronounced H) is quickly becoming one of the breakout bass artists of 2025. Mixing heavy-hitting bass, pristine percussion, and a heavy hip-hop influence, AYCH’s sound is everything that we love at FUXWITHIT. He’s been making major waves on SoundCloud with a slew of killer flips, most notably his remix of Mac Miller’s classic ‘Nike’s On My Feet’, which is creeping up on 150k plays. Add in a massive colab with Buzz Junior (‘PAPU!’), and a killer original on Bassrush Records (‘Tippy Toe’), and it’s clear that he’s just getting better with time.

To get fans properly familiarized with AYCH, we connected with the producer for a guest mix + interview. The mix is an hour of banging bass music featuring a ton of unreleased IDs from AYCH and his producer homies. As for the interview, we discuss his journey as an artist, the ingredients of his signature sound, his favourite plug-ins, remixes vs. originals, and more! Dive in below.

Give us a preview of the mix. What can we expect when we press play?

This mix is full of ID’s and remixes I’ve been working on over the past few months. There is a lot of music from my friends and other producers I’ve been listening to lately.

What inspired you to start making music? What has the journey been like?

When I was in middle school my sister was a big raver and got to experience the rise of dubstep and dance music in real time. I then got to experience that through her when she’d play tunes in the car on the way to school and sports practices. She’d play artists like Funtcase, Cookie Monsta, Skrillex, Caspa, and Excision. As a young kid I hadn’t really heard anything like that before, and it became my new obsession. I would spend late nights watching Owsla compilations and listening to tunes on UKF. I knew very early on that I wanted to make music and tour.

The journey has been a lot of fun. I started producing in 2018, starting out as a duo project called trusound with my buddy Wil, who I credit for teaching me how to DJ and use Ableton early on. We made a lot of edits together and played some local shows for a while before I decided to go solo.

I then played under the name rvby and made some house music for a while before I figured out how to make bass music and started AYCH. I started AYCH in 2021 and had my debut release with RIELL on Subsidia Records, which was the coolest thing ever because I had been such a fan of Excision since I was a little kid. It gave me a lot of motivation to keep making tunes and get better at producing.

I spent a lot of time doing lessons with artists I looked up to and joining the patreons of other producers so I could learn as much as possible. It really helped me out a lot. I also spent a significant time on Discord with my friends, and they’re all super talented, so it pushes me to keep learning and collaborating. I would not be where I am today without the Discord fam.

Big up SO DEF, SCHMUX, VELCROSHIRT, OVEREAZY, FURTHA, HVNTER, ROTO, ZONDO, & so many others.

It seems like you’ve been gaining some serious momentum as of late. Does it feel that way for you? What do you see as key factors to your success?

It feels pretty cool that people like to listen to my tunes and want to come see me play. I think just being consistent with my releases has been really helpful. I try to release every 3 weeks or so and that gives me a lot of freedom in the studio to experiment and just have fun. I don’t like to put too much pressure on myself to make bangers. I just make whatever feels fun at the time and if I think it’s cool I’ll add it to the release schedule.

I think it’s super important to have fun with whatever you’re making. There’s a big push with social media right now to have a viral moment, and it puts a lot of pressure on upcoming producers to make what’s hot so they can cater to the algorithm.

A lot of producers chase perfection and want every song to be huge, but that hasn’t been my experience, and when I felt my music was ready, I spent about a year releasing every two to three weeks before my music started getting played by other artists. I saw a massive improvement in my production skills and workflow when I just started finishing every song even if it wasn’t my favorite. A few of those, including my Key Glock flip, were ideas that I didn’t think would be received well, so you truly never know who might like the tunes you’re making.

What are the essential ingredients for an AYCH banger? How do you go about putting them together?

My essential banger ingredients include a catchy vocal of some sort, a bass I made in Serum, usually using two sine waves, distortion, eq, distortion, eq, ott, filter automation. A really bouncy drum groove and lots of cool fx and fills.

I usually start with drums when I’m making a beat then I’ll add a melody and bass line and go from there. I get inspired by resampling and listening to old hip hop and sampling from those beats.

Your unofficial remixes have been doing crazy numbers. There was a shift a few years back towards artists creating exclusively original music for Spotify, which seems to be transitioning back a bit. What’s your take on this? What makes remixes special for you?

I think having a catalogue of original music to look back on is super important. Remixes for me came to the forefront because I had a hard time finding original vocals and didn’t have the budget to hire vocalists to carry out the vision. I had a lot of fun reimagining my favorite tracks and finished songs way faster so it gave me more confidence to just keep writing more. As a newer project, it put a lot more eyes on me and gave me a bigger platform to share my originals. SoundCloud & Hypeddit have been a game-changer for my project. The free download gates contributed to a lot of my success.

Rap seems to be a major influence on your music. Who are your favourite rappers at the moment?

Young Dolph and Key Glock are two of my favorite rappers. I really enjoy listening to their stuff in the car and their beats, more specifically Key Glock’s are made by some of my favorite hip hop beat producers Bandplay and Tay Keith.

Are you really out here drinking pickle water at festivals?

YES. A good friend of mine started a company called Fast Pickle, and he gave me a bunch for me and my friends to bring to Bonnaroo with us. It honestly helps a ton with hydration and made the scaries a little bit easier to bear. I try to bring a bottle with me when I can.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received about music production or being an artist?

One of the best production tips I received was to focus my time on sound selection & sound design. In an industry dominated by sample packs and presets it’s never been easier to stand out. Make your own sounds, and over time you’ll develop a clear sonic identity that’s unique to you.

What are the plugins/VSTS that you couldn’t live without? Why?

The Melda suite is amazing, and it’s FREE. A lot of their plugins inspired your favorite paid vst’s so definitely dive in. M-Waveshaper specifically is my go to for distortion and adding warmth and nice harmonics to my sounds. It’s insanely versatile. You can go really heavy with it or go light for some subtle boosts. I’d compare it to fruity waveshaper in FL with a more refined UI.

Izotope’s Trash 2 is another distortion tool I can’t live without. There are a ton of different presets within so I will go through them until I find one that sounds good and works for whatever sound I’m going for. It also has multiband so you can distort the lo’s, mid’s, and hi’s separately. I use this on just about every bass I make and sometimes percussion elements too.

What do you have planned for the rest of the year?

I have a lot of music dropping this fall/winter so keep an eye out.

I’m also on tour right now doing a bunch of stops with Effin on his Daydreams Tour. Come out and see the show if you can <3>

Stops Include:

Chicago – 9/26
Brooklyn – 10/4
LA – 11/8
Phoenix – 11/15
Indianapolis – 11/21
Nashville – 11/28
Denver –  12/27

This is the only thing I want to do <3 and I could not do it without all of you>

Any final words?

It’s been a crazy year, and I never thought I’d have this many people supporting my project, so I just want to say thank you to everyone that has streamed my songs or came to a show or interacted with my music in any way. This is the only thing I want to do <3 and I could not do it without all of you>

Be kind and be yourself.
