Vanessa Bryant is hoping to save lives with some new legislation.
Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna were killed in a helicopter crash in California back in January on a day where the conditions were extremely foggy. Based on chat logs between the pilot and the flight coordinator, it remains clear that there was some wariness in regards to whether or not anybody should have been flying that day.
In light of these events, Vanessa Bryant is doing her part to make sure an incident of this magnitude never happens again. According to CNN, she recently urged lawmakers throughout the United States to pass a bill with Kobe’s name attached to it. This legislation would force helicopters with over six passengers to carry a terrain awareness system. Bryant claims this bill would save many lives.

“I strongly urge that the United States Congress pass a federal law that would improve the safety of helicopters operating in this country,” Bryant said. “I believe there is a chance that Kobe and Gianna would still be alive today if their helicopter had been equipped with the safety equipment required by this pending federal legislation.”
Vanessa has shown incredible strength throughout these hard times and this latest effort is yet another example of her desire to help others in the face of personal tragedy.
