LeBron James has always been one to use his platform for social justice.
Following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota, there have been widespread protests all throughout the United States. People are very upset at the injustices that continue to be committed against people of color and these protests are a manifestation of the anger that has been built up for centuries.
NBA superstar LeBron James has always been someone who uses his platform for good so it shouldn’t be surprising that he has been quite vocal about what has been happening around the country. Following Floyd’s death, LeBron was emotional on social media and called for more change. With protests ramping up, LeBron came back to social media in the early hours of Sunday morning where he asked a very poignant question: “Why Doesn’t America Love Us, Too.”
LeBron’s question is certainly heartbreaking when you consider all of the contributions black people have made to the United States. Despite years of supposed progress, it is clear as day that there are still massive biases in our society and that systemic change is the only way those biases can be eradicated from our society.
Over the next few days, protests will continue to take place and hopefully, some real change is brought about to the masses.
