Despite his cries for help, the officer continued to apply pressure until Floyd eventually passed away. This egregious act of police brutality has led to large protests and riots around the city and some are calling for it to stop, while others are encouraging the fight for justice.
Colin Kaepernick has been fighting against injustice and inequality for years now and today, he took to social media where he gave his perspective on the protests. As he explains, peaceful protest has not worked in the past and that now, it is time for a revolution that brings real change to the country.
“When civility leads to death, revolting is the only logical reaction,” Kap wrote. “The cries for peace will rain down, and when they do, they will land on deaf ears, because your violence has brought this resistance.”
